I looked up again, and there in front of me was a scroll, flying.

He said to me, "What do you see?" I answered, "A flying scroll, thirty feet long and fifteen feet wide."

Then he said to me, "This is the curse going out across the face of the whole land. Going by one side of the scroll, every thief gets swept away. Going by the other side, everyone who swears a false oath gets swept away."

"I have sent it out, says Yahweh who commands armies, and it will go into the thief's house and into the house of anyone who swears falsely by my name. It will settle in that house and eat it up, timber and stone and all."

The messenger who had been talking with me came forward and said, "Look up. See what this is, coming out."

I said, "What is it?" He said, "This is the measuring basket going out." And he said, "This is their guilt, across the whole land."

Then a lid of lead was lifted, and there was a woman sitting inside the basket.

He said, "This is Corruption." He shoved her back down into the basket and slammed the lead weight over its mouth.

I looked up again and saw two women coming out, wind in their wings. Their wings were like a stork's, and they lifted the basket up between the earth and the sky.

I said to the messenger who was talking with me, "Where are they taking the basket?"

He said, "To Shinar, to build a house for her. When it is ready, she will be set down there on her own pedestal."
