Then he showed me Joshua the chief priest, standing in front of the messenger of Yahweh, with the accuser standing at his right hand to bring the case against him.

And Yahweh said to the accuser, "Yahweh silence you, accuser. Yahweh, the one who chose Jerusalem, silence you. Isn't this man a stick pulled out of the fire?"

Joshua was standing there in front of the messenger wearing clothes covered in filth.

The messenger said to the ones standing in front of him, "Get those filthy clothes off him." Then he said to Joshua, "Look. I have taken your guilt off you, and I am putting you in fresh clothes."

And I said, "Put a clean turban on his head." So they put the clean turban on his head and dressed him, and the messenger of Yahweh stood there watching.

Then the messenger of Yahweh gave Joshua this charge:

This is what Yahweh who commands armies says. If you walk my roads and keep the watch I set you, then you will run my house and take charge of my courtyards, and I will give you the right to come and go among these ones standing here.

Listen, Joshua, chief priest, you and your colleagues sitting in front of you, because these men are a sign of what is coming. I am bringing my servant, the New Shoot.

Look at the stone I have set down in front of Joshua. One stone, and seven eyes on it. I am about to cut the engraving into it, declares Yahweh who commands armies, and I will wipe the guilt off this land in one day.
