A song of David, when he fled from his son Absalom. Yahweh, how many are the ones rising against me! So many are standing up to fight me.

So many are saying about me, "God won't rescue him." Selah

But you, Yahweh, are a shield wrapped around me — my glory, the one who lifts my head high.

I cry out loud to Yahweh, and he answers me from his sacred mountain. Selah

I lie down and sleep, and I wake up again — because Yahweh holds me steady.

I will not be afraid of tens of thousands of people who have positioned themselves against me on every side.

Rise up, Yahweh! Rescue me, my God! You strike all my enemies across the jaw; you shatter the teeth of the wicked.

Rescue belongs to Yahweh. Your favor rests on your people. Selah
