Then I heard a thundering voice from the inner room of God's presence telling the seven angels, "Go — pour out the seven bowls of God's fierce anger onto the earth."

The first angel went and poured out his bowl onto the earth, and horrible, painful sores broke out on every person who carried the beast's mark and who worshiped its image.

The second angel poured out his bowl onto the sea, and it turned to something like the blood of a dead person — thick and dark — and every living thing in the sea died.

The third angel poured out his bowl onto the rivers and springs of fresh water, and they turned to blood too.

Then I heard the angel in charge of the waters say, "You are just in making these judgments, you who are and who were, the One set apart — "

because they poured out the blood of those set apart for God and the blood of the prophets, and you have given them blood to drink. They deserve it."

And I heard the altar respond, "Yes, Yahweh, God who holds all power — your judgments are true and just."

The fourth angel poured out his bowl onto the sun, and the sun was given the power to burn people with scorching fire.

People were scorched by the intense heat, and they cursed the name of God who had authority over these plagues — but they refused to rethink their lives and give him honor.

The fifth angel poured out his bowl onto the throne of the beast, and its kingdom was plunged into darkness. People gnawed on their tongues from the agony,

and they cursed the God of heaven because of their pain and their sores — but they still refused to turn away from what they were doing.

The sixth angel poured out his bowl onto the great river Euphrates, and its water dried up to prepare the way for the kings from the east.

Then I saw three disgusting spirits that looked like frogs come out of the mouth of the dragon, out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet.

These are demonic spirits that perform signs, and they go out to the kings of the whole world to gather them together for the battle on the great day of God who holds all power.

"Pay attention — I'm coming like a thief! The person who stays awake and keeps their clothes on is the one who will be glad — they won't be caught wandering around naked and exposed."

And the spirits gathered the kings together at the place called Armageddon in Hebrew.

The seventh angel poured out his bowl into the air, and a thundering voice came from the throne in the inner room of God's presence, saying, "It's done!"

Then there were flashes of lightning, sounds of thunder, a tremendous roar, and a massive earthquake — the worst earthquake since humanity has existed on the earth, so powerful, so violent.

The great city split into three parts, and the cities of the nations collapsed. God remembered Babylon the Great and made her drink from the cup filled with the wine of his fierce, burning anger.

Every island disappeared, and the mountains could no longer be found.

Enormous hailstones, each weighing about a hundred pounds, fell from the sky onto people. And the people cursed God because of the plague of hail, because the plague was so unimaginably severe.
