Whoever lives in the shelter of the Most High, whoever rests in the shadow of the Almighty —

I will say to Yahweh, "You are my refuge, my fortress — my God, and I trust you completely."

He is the one who will pull you free from the hunter's trap, from the plague that destroys.

He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find safety. His faithfulness is your shield and your wall of defense.

You will not fear the terror that stalks at night, or the arrow that flies by day,

or the plague that creeps through darkness, or the devastation that strikes at noon.

A thousand may fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand — but it will not come near you.

You will only look on with your eyes and see what happens to the wicked.

Because you have made Yahweh your refuge — the Most High your home —

no harm will overtake you, no disease will come near your tent.

For he will command his angels to watch over you, to guard you wherever you go.

They will lift you up in their hands so your foot won't strike a stone.

You will tread on the lion and the cobra; you will trample the young lion and the serpent underfoot.

"Because he holds tight to me with love, I will rescue him. I will protect him because he knows my name.

When he calls out to me, I will answer. I will be with him in trouble — I will pull him out and honor him.

I will satisfy him with a long, full life, and show him my rescue."
