My whole being aches with longing for the courtyards of Yahweh. My heart and my body cry out for the living God.

Even the sparrow finds a home there, and the swallow a nest where she raises her young — right beside your altars, Yahweh, Commander of angel armies, my King and my God.

Life is good for those who live in your house — they never stop praising you. Selah

Life is good for the person whose strength comes from you — whose heart is set on the pilgrim road.

When they pass through the Valley of Weeping, they turn it into a place of springs — the early rain wraps it in pools of water.

They go from strength to strength; each one appears before God in Zion.

Yahweh, God, Commander of angel armies — hear my prayer. Listen closely, God of Jacob. Selah

Look with favor on our shield, God — gaze on the face of the one you've anointed.

One day in your courtyards is better than a thousand anywhere else. I'd rather stand at the doorway of my God's house than live comfortably among the corrupt.

Because Yahweh God is a sun and a shield — Yahweh gives favor and honor. He holds nothing good back from those who live with integrity.
