I cry out to God with my voice — to God with my voice, and he listens to me.

On the day everything fell apart, I reached for the Lord. All night long my hands were stretched out and wouldn't drop. My soul refused to be comforted.

I think of God and I groan. I dwell on it and my spirit collapses. Selah.

You hold my eyes open through the watches of the night. I am so shaken I can't even speak.

I think back to the ancient days, the years that have long since passed.

I remember my songs in the night. I turn it over in my heart; my spirit searches for answers.

"Will the Lord reject us forever? Will he never show his favor again?

Has his faithful love disappeared for good? Has his promise died out, generation after generation?

Has God forgotten how to be compassionate? Has his anger slammed the door on his tenderness?" Selah.

And then I said, "This is what tears me apart — that the right hand of the Most High has changed."

But I will remember what Yahweh has done. Yes — I will remember the incredible things you did long ago.

I will replay everything you've made, and sit with every powerful thing you've done.

God, everything you do comes from a place that is set apart. What god is as great as our God?

You are the God who does things beyond explanation. You showed the nations what your strength looks like.

With your own arm, you bought your people back — the sons and daughters of Jacob and Joseph. Selah.

The waters saw you, God — the waters saw you and writhed. The deep itself shook.

The clouds poured out water, the skies cracked with thunder, and your arrows of lightning flew in every direction.

Your thunder rolled through the whirlwind, lightning lit up the whole world, and the earth trembled and shook.

Your road cut straight through the sea, your path ran through the crushing waters, and no one could trace your footprints.

You led your people like a flock, guided by the hands of Moses and Aaron.
