Listen closely to what I'm saying, Yahweh — hear the ache beneath my words.

Pay attention to my cry for help, my King and my God — you're the one I'm calling out to.

Yahweh, in the morning you hear my voice — at first light I lay everything out before you and watch expectantly.

Because you're not a god who takes pleasure in what's wrong — evil can't coexist with you.

The arrogant can't stand before your eyes — you despise everyone who does harm.

You destroy those who speak lies — Yahweh abhors the violent and the deceitful.

But me — because of your overwhelming kindness, I get to come into your house. I bow down toward your set-apart place with deep reverence for you.

Yahweh, lead me in your justice because of those who are against me — make the path ahead of me straight and clear.

There's nothing honest in what they say — their insides are full of destruction. Their throats are open graves, and their tongues drip with flattery.

Hold them accountable, God — let their own schemes be their downfall. Drive them out for the sheer weight of their rebellion, because they've defied you.

But let everyone who takes shelter in you celebrate — let them shout with joy that never ends. Spread your protection over them, and let those who love your name be radiant because of you.

Because you, Yahweh, pour out good things on the upright — you wrap them in favor like a shield on every side.
