This is what Yahweh says: For three crimes of Moab, and for four, I will not take it back. He burned the bones of the king of Edom into lime.

So I will send fire on Moab, and it will eat the strongholds of Kerioth. Moab will die in the uproar, in the war cry, in the sound of the ram's horn.

I will cut down the judge from among them and kill all her officials with him, says Yahweh.

This is what Yahweh says: For three crimes of Judah, and for four, I will not take it back. They threw out the teaching of Yahweh and did not keep what he laid down, and their lies led them off the road, the same lies their fathers walked behind.

They grind the heads of the poor into the dust of the ground and shove the humble off the road. A man and his father go to the same girl and treat my name, the name like no other, as common ground.

They stretch out beside every altar on clothes taken as security on a loan, and in the house of their god they drink wine bought with fines.

I was the one who wiped out the Amorite in front of them, whose height was the height of cedars, who stood as strong as the oaks. I killed his fruit above and his roots below.

I was the one who brought you up out of Egypt and walked you through the wilderness for forty years to take the land of the Amorite.

I raised up prophets from among your sons and men under a vow from among your young men. Isn't that so, people of Israel? This is Yahweh speaking.

But you made the men under the vow drink wine, and you gave the prophets an order: do not prophesy.

Look, I am going to press you down where you stand, the way a cart presses when it is loaded with cut grain.

The fast man will have nowhere to run, the strong man will not keep hold of his strength, and the fighter will not save his own life.

The archer will not hold his ground, the quick-footed will not get away, the man on the horse will not save his own life.

And the bravest of the fighters will run naked on that day. This is Yahweh speaking.
