Be kind to me, God — be kind to me, because my whole being is taking shelter in you. I am hiding in the shadow of your wings until the storm of destruction passes over.

I am calling out to God, the Most High — to God, who finishes what he started for me.

He will send help from the skies and rescue me; he will put to shame the one who is crushing me. God will send out his faithful love and his truth.

My life is surrounded by lions; I lie down among people who breathe fire. Their teeth are spears and arrows, their tongues are sharpened swords.

Rise above the skies, God! Let your magnificence cover the whole earth!

They set a net for my feet — my life was bowed down with despair. They dug a pit in my path, but they fell into it themselves.

My heart is steady, God. My heart is steady. I will sing — I will make music!

Wake up, everything in me! Wake up, harp and lyre! I will wake the dawn itself.

I will thank you among the peoples, my Master. I will make music for you among the nations.

Because your faithful love reaches higher than the skies, and your truth stretches to the clouds.
