For the music director. A psalm of David, the servant of Yahweh. Rebellion whispers deep in the heart of the corrupt — I can see it clearly: there is no awe of God before their eyes.

They flatter themselves in their own eyes, too much to even detect their own corruption or find it repulsive.

The words from their mouth are toxic and deceitful; they have abandoned any trace of wisdom or doing good.

Even in bed they plot what is toxic; they plant themselves on a path that leads nowhere good and never reject what is harmful.

Yahweh, your faithful love reaches to the heavens, your trustworthiness stretches to the clouds.

Your justice is like the towering mountains, your judgments run as deep as the great ocean. Yahweh, you preserve both people and animals.

How priceless is your faithful love, God! All of humanity finds shelter in the shadow of your wings.

They feast on the richness of your house; you let them drink from your river of pure delight.

For with you is the fountain of life; in your light we see light.

Pour out your faithful love on those who truly know you, and your justice on those whose hearts are upright.

Don't let the foot of the arrogant come near me, or the hand of the corrupt drive me away.

See how those who practice harm have fallen — thrown down, unable to rise again.
