A song for the dedication of the house. A psalm of David. I lift you high, Yahweh, because you pulled me up from the depths and refused to let my enemies celebrate over me.

Yahweh my God, I called out to you for help and you made me whole again.

Yahweh, you brought me back from the grave. You kept me alive when I was slipping into the pit.

Sing to Yahweh, all you who are devoted to him. Give thanks when you remember how set apart he is.

His anger lasts only a heartbeat, but his favor lasts a lifetime. Tears may stay the night, but joy comes running in with the morning.

When everything was going well, I said, "Nothing can shake me."

Yahweh, when you showed me favor, you made me as steady as a mountain. But when you turned away, I fell apart.

I cried out to you, Yahweh. I begged you for mercy:

"What do you gain if I die? What good am I to you in the ground? Can dust thank you? Can it tell anyone how faithful you are?"

"Hear me, Yahweh. Show me kindness. Yahweh, be my help."

You turned my grief into dancing. You stripped off my mourning clothes and dressed me in joy.

So now my whole being sings to you and will not be silent. Yahweh, my God, I will thank you forever.
