Praise Yahweh! Praise the name of Yahweh. Praise him, you who serve Yahweh,

you who stand in the house of Yahweh, in the courtyards of our God's house.

Praise Yahweh, because Yahweh is good. Sing to his name — it is beautiful.

Because Yahweh chose Jacob for himself, Israel as his treasured people.

I know this — Yahweh is great. Our master surpasses every god.

Yahweh does whatever he wants — in the skies and on the earth, in the seas and every ocean depth.

He pulls clouds up from the edge of the earth, sends lightning with the rain, and releases wind from his storehouses.

He struck down the firstborn of Egypt, both human and animal alike.

He sent signs and wonders into your midst, Egypt — against Pharaoh and all who served him.

He defeated many nations and killed powerful kings —

Sihon, king of the Amorites, Og, king of Bashan, and every kingdom of Canaan.

Then he gave their land as an inheritance, an inheritance to Israel, his people.

Yahweh, your name endures forever. Yahweh, your fame stretches across every generation.

Because Yahweh will defend his people; he will show compassion to those who serve him.

The idols of the nations are just silver and gold, shaped by human hands.

They have mouths but cannot speak. They have eyes but cannot see.

They have ears but cannot hear. There is no breath in their mouths.

The people who make them will become just like them — so will everyone who trusts in them.

House of Israel, praise Yahweh! House of Aaron, praise Yahweh!

House of Levi, praise Yahweh! Everyone who stands in awe of Yahweh, praise Yahweh!

Praise Yahweh from Zion — he who makes his home in Jerusalem. Praise Yahweh!
