Yahweh spoke to Moses:

"Tell the Israelites: When a man or woman wants to make a special commitment — a Nazirite vow — to set themselves apart completely for Yahweh,

they must stay away from wine and any other alcoholic drink. They must not drink vinegar made from wine or from any other alcohol, and they must not drink any grape juice or eat fresh or dried grapes.

For the entire time of their vow, they must not eat anything that comes from the grapevine — not even the seeds or the skin.

"For the entire time of their dedication vow, no razor may touch their head. Until the period of their commitment to Yahweh is complete, they are set apart — they must let their hair grow long and free.

"For the entire time they are set apart for Yahweh, they must not go near a dead body.

Even if their own father, mother, brother, or sister dies, they must not make themselves ritually impure for them, because the sign of their dedication to God is on their head.

For the entire time of their dedication, they are set apart for Yahweh.

"If someone suddenly dies right next to them, making their dedicated head ritually impure, then they must shave their head on the day of their cleansing — on the seventh day they must shave it.

Then on the eighth day, they must bring two turtledoves or two young pigeons to the priest at the entrance of the Tent of Meeting.

The priest will offer one as a purification offering and the other as an entirely burned offering, and make things right for them because of what happened near the dead body. That same day, they must rededicate their head

and recommit the days of their dedication to Yahweh. They must bring a one-year-old male lamb as a guilt offering. The previous days don't count — they're lost, because their dedication was broken.

"Now here is the instruction for when a Nazirite's period of dedication is complete. They must be brought to the entrance of the Tent of Meeting,

and they must present their offerings to Yahweh: one unblemished one-year-old male lamb for an entirely burned offering, one unblemished one-year-old female lamb for a purification offering, one unblemished ram for a peace offering,

along with a basket of flatbread made without yeast — thick cakes of fine flour mixed with oil, and thin wafers spread with oil — plus the grain offerings and drink offerings that go with them.

The priest will present all of this before Yahweh and offer the purification offering and the entirely burned offering.

He will offer the ram as a peace offering to Yahweh, together with the basket of flatbread. The priest will also offer the accompanying grain offering and drink offering.

"Then the Nazirite must shave off the hair of their dedication at the entrance of the Tent of Meeting, take the hair, and put it in the fire burning under the peace offering.

After the Nazirite has shaved off the hair of their dedication, the priest will take the boiled shoulder of the ram, one thick cake without yeast from the basket, and one thin wafer without yeast, and place them in the Nazirite's hands.

The priest will then lift them up as a wave offering before Yahweh. This is a sacred portion that belongs to the priest, along with the breast of the wave offering and the thigh of the contribution. After that, the Nazirite may drink wine.

"This is the instruction for the Nazirite who makes a vow. Their offering to Yahweh for their dedication must follow these requirements, in addition to whatever else they can afford. They must carry out whatever vow they make, according to the instruction for their dedication."

Yahweh spoke to Moses:

"Tell Aaron and his sons: This is how you are to place my good word over the Israelites. Say to them:

"'May Yahweh show you his goodness and keep you safe.

May Yahweh look at you with delight and be generous to you.

May Yahweh turn his full attention to you and give you peace.'

"And so they will place my name on the Israelites, and I myself will show them my goodness."
