Moses spoke to the leaders of the tribes of Israel and said, "This is what Yahweh has commanded:

When a man makes a binding promise to Yahweh or puts himself under an obligation with a sworn commitment, he must not break his word. He must do everything he said he would do.

When a young woman still living in her father's household makes a binding promise to Yahweh or puts herself under an obligation,

and her father hears about her promise and her obligation but says nothing to her — then all her binding promises stand, and every obligation she put herself under stands.

But if her father overrules her on the day he hears about it, none of her binding promises or obligations she put herself under will stand. Yahweh will release her from it, because her father overruled her.

If she marries while still under her binding promises or while bound by a rash commitment she made,

and her husband hears about it but says nothing to her on the day he learns of it — then her binding promises stand, and the obligations she put herself under stand.

But if her husband overrules her on the day he hears about it, he cancels the binding promise she is under and the rash commitment she made, and Yahweh will release her.

Any binding promise made by a widow or a divorced woman — everything she has put herself under — is binding on her.

If a woman makes a binding promise or puts herself under an obligation with a sworn commitment while in her husband's household,

and her husband hears about it but says nothing and doesn't overrule her — then all her binding promises stand, and every obligation she put herself under stands.

But if her husband completely cancels them on the day he hears about them, then nothing that came from her lips — whether binding promises or personal obligations — will stand. Her husband has canceled them, and Yahweh will release her.

Her husband can either uphold or cancel any binding promise or any sworn commitment she makes to deny herself.

If her husband says nothing to her from day to day, then he upholds all her binding promises and all her obligations — he has upheld them by staying silent on the day he heard about them.

But if he cancels them sometime after he first heard about them, then he takes on the consequences of her obligation himself.

These are the rules that Yahweh commanded Moses — between a husband and his wife, and between a father and his young daughter still living in his household.
