"Don't make worthless idols for yourselves. Don't set up carved images or sacred pillars, and don't place an engraved stone in your land to bow down to it. I am Yahweh your God."

"Guard my Sabbath rest days and treat my sacred space with reverence. I am Yahweh."

"If you live by my laws and carefully keep my commands,"

"then I will send your rains at the right time, the land will produce its crops, and the trees of the field will bear their fruit."

"Your threshing will last until grape harvest, and your grape harvest will last until planting time. You'll eat your fill and live securely in your land."

"I will give the land peace — you'll lie down and no one will make you afraid. I will remove dangerous animals from the land, and no army will march through your territory."

"You will chase your enemies and they will fall before you by the sword."

"Five of you will chase a hundred, and a hundred of you will chase ten thousand. Your enemies will fall before you by the sword."

"I will turn toward you, make you fruitful and multiply you, and I will keep my covenant with you."

"You'll still be eating last year's stored harvest when you need to clear it out to make room for the new."

"I will set up my dwelling place among you, and I will not reject you."

"I will walk among you. I will be your God, and you will be my people."

"I am Yahweh your God, who brought you out of Egypt so you wouldn't be their slaves anymore. I broke the bars of your yoke and made you walk with your heads held high."

"But if you don't listen to me and don't carry out all these commands —"

"if you reject my laws and despise my regulations, refusing to carry out all my commands and breaking my covenant — "

"then here's what I will do to you: I will bring sudden terror on you — wasting diseases and burning fevers that drain the life from your eyes and crush your spirit. You'll plant your seeds for nothing, because your enemies will eat what you grow."

"I will set my face against you, and you'll be defeated by your enemies. Those who hate you will rule over you, and you'll run even when no one is chasing you."

"And if after all this you still won't listen to me, I will discipline you seven times over for your failures."

"I will break your proud strength. I will make your sky like iron and your ground like bronze."

"Your strength will be spent for nothing. Your land won't yield its crops, and the trees of the land won't produce their fruit."

"If you keep resisting me and refuse to listen, I will multiply the blows against you seven times over, matching your failures."

"I will send wild animals against you, and they will rob you of your children, destroy your livestock, and reduce your numbers until your roads are deserted."

"If even after these things you don't change course toward me, and you keep on resisting me — "

"then I myself will resist you. I — even I — will strike you seven times over for your failures."

"I will bring a sword against you to execute the vengeance of the covenant. When you retreat into your cities, I will send a plague among you, and you will be handed over to your enemies."

"When I cut off your food supply, ten women will bake bread in a single oven because there's so little flour, and they'll ration your bread back to you by weight. You'll eat and never be satisfied."

"If after all this you still won't listen to me and you keep resisting me —"

"then I will resist you in burning anger. I — even I — will discipline you seven times over for your failures."

"You will eat the flesh of your own sons, and you will eat the flesh of your own daughters."

"I will destroy your hilltop shrines, cut down your incense altars, and pile your dead bodies on top of your dead idols. I will despise you."

"I will turn your cities into ruins and lay waste to your sacred sites. I will refuse to breathe in the pleasing aroma of your offerings."

"I myself will devastate the land so thoroughly that even your enemies who come to settle in it will be shocked."

"I will scatter you among the nations and draw a sword to chase after you. Your land will be a wasteland and your cities will be ruins."

"Then the land will finally enjoy its Sabbath rest the whole time it lies empty, while you are in your enemies' land. The land will rest and enjoy its Sabbaths."

"The whole time it lies empty, the land will have the rest it never got during your Sabbaths when you were living in it."

"As for those of you who survive — I will fill their hearts with such fear in the lands of their enemies that the sound of a wind-blown leaf will send them running. They'll flee as if running from a sword and fall even though no one is chasing them."

"They'll stumble over each other as if fleeing from a sword, even though no one is pursuing them. You won't be able to stand your ground against your enemies."

"You'll disappear among the nations, and your enemies' land will swallow you up."

"Those of you who survive will waste away in your enemies' lands because of their failures. And because of their ancestors' failures, they will waste away alongside them."

"But if they confess their failures and the failures of their ancestors — their betrayal of me, their resistance against me,"

"which made me resist them and send them into their enemies' land — if then their stubborn hearts are finally humbled and they accept the consequences of their failures,"

"then I will remember my covenant with Jacob, my covenant with Isaac, and my covenant with Abraham, and I will remember the land."

"The land will be left behind by them and will enjoy its Sabbath rest while it lies empty without them. They will accept the consequences of their failures, because they rejected my regulations and despised my laws."

"Yet even after all of this, while they are in their enemies' land, I will not reject them or despise them to the point of completely destroying them, breaking my covenant with them. Because I am Yahweh their God."

"I will remember for their sake the covenant I made with their ancestors, whom I brought out of Egypt in full view of the nations so that I could be their God. I am Yahweh."

These are the laws, regulations, and instructions that Yahweh established between himself and the Israelites on Mount Sinai through Moses.
