Yahweh spoke to Moses and said,

"Command the Israelites to bring you pure, pressed olive oil for the lamp, so that a flame can be kept burning constantly.

Outside the curtain that shields the chest containing the covenant terms, in the meeting tent, Aaron will tend it from evening until morning in Yahweh's presence — constantly. This is a permanent rule for all your generations to come.

He will arrange the lamps on the pure gold lampstand in Yahweh's presence — constantly.

"You are to take fine flour and bake twelve loaves from it — each loaf made with two-tenths of a standard measure of flour.

Then arrange them in two rows — six in each row — on the pure gold table in Yahweh's presence.

Place pure frankincense alongside each row — it will serve as a memorial portion for the bread, a fire offering to Yahweh.

Every Sabbath day, without fail, Aaron will arrange the bread in Yahweh's presence — an ongoing commitment from the Israelites, a permanent covenant.

It belongs to Aaron and his sons, and they will eat it in a sacred place, because it is an especially sacred portion for him from Yahweh's fire offerings — a permanent right."

Now, the son of an Israelite woman — his father was an Egyptian man — went out among the Israelites. A fight broke out in the camp between this man and a full Israelite.

The son of the Israelite woman spoke the Name with contempt and cursed. So they brought him to Moses. (His mother's name was Shelomith, daughter of Dibri, from the tribe of Dan.)

They held him in custody, waiting for Yahweh to make his ruling clear.

Then Yahweh spoke to Moses:

"Bring the one who cursed outside the camp. Everyone who heard him must place their hands on his head, and then the entire community will stone him.

"Say to the Israelites: Anyone who treats their God with contempt will bear the consequences of their failure.

And anyone who speaks the name of Yahweh with contempt must be put to death — the entire community will stone them. Whether they are an outsider or a native-born Israelite, when they speak the Name with contempt, they must be put to death.

"If anyone takes the life of another human being, they must be put to death.

Anyone who kills someone's animal must make full restitution — a life for a life.

If anyone injures their neighbor — whatever they did will be done to them:

a broken bone for a broken bone, an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth. Whatever injury they inflicted on the other person will be inflicted on them.

Anyone who kills an animal must replace it, but anyone who kills a human being must be put to death.

You will have one standard of justice for outsiders and native-born alike. I am Yahweh your God."

Moses told this to the Israelites, and they brought the one who had cursed outside the camp and stoned him. The Israelites carried out exactly what Yahweh had commanded Moses.
