Then Bildad from Shuah answered:

How long until you put an end to words? Get some sense, and then we can talk.

Why are we counted as cattle, treated as stupid in your eyes?

You tear yourself apart in your anger — should the earth be abandoned for your sake? Should the rock be pried out of its place?

Even so, the light of the corrupt goes out, and the flame of his fire gives no light.

The light in his tent goes dark, and the lamp above him goes out.

His strong stride is cut short, and his own plan throws him down.

His own feet send him into the net. He goes walking out across the mesh.

A snare takes him by the heel. The noose holds him and does not let go.

His rope lies hidden in the ground, and the trap for him is set along the path.

Terrors come at him from every side and chase him at every step.

His strength goes hungry, and ruin stands ready at his side.

It eats the skin off his body. Death's own firstborn eats his arms and his legs.

He is ripped out of the tent he trusted and marched off to the king of terrors.

What was never his moves into his tent, and sulfur is scattered over the ground where he lived.

Underneath, his roots dry up. Overhead, the branches wither.

His memory is gone from the land, and out in the street he has no name.

They shove him out of the light into the dark and drive him off the face of the world.

No son, no grandson among his people, and nobody left alive where he used to live.

The generations after him are stunned at what his day became, and the generations before him are seized with horror.

This is what the tents of an unjust man come to. This is the place of a man who never knew God.
