Then Yahweh told me, "Go again — love a woman who is loved by another man and keeps being unfaithful. Love her the way Yahweh loves the people of Israel, even though they keep turning to other gods and love raisin cakes offered to idols."

So I bought her back for fifteen pieces of silver and about five bushels of barley.

Then I told her, "You're going to stay with me for a long time. No more selling yourself. No more being with other men. And I will do the same for you."

Because the people of Israel are going to go a long time without a king, without a leader, without sacrifices, without sacred pillars, without a priestly vest, and without household gods.

After that, the people of Israel will come back and look for Yahweh their God and for David their king. They'll come trembling to Yahweh and to his goodness in the days to come.
