A long time ago, God spoke to our ancestors through the prophets — piece by piece, in all kinds of ways.

But now, in these final days, he has spoken to us through his Son — the one he appointed to inherit everything, and through whom he made the entire universe.

The Son is the radiance of God's magnificent presence and the exact expression of who God is. He sustains everything that exists by the power of his word. After he made purification for our failures, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high.

He became that much greater than the angels, since the name he inherited is far more significant than theirs.

After all, which angel did God ever say this to: "You are my Son — today I have become your Father"? Or this: "I will be his Father, and he will be my Son"?

And then, when he brings his firstborn into the world, he says, "Let all of God's angels worship him."

Now about the angels, he says, "He makes his angels into winds, and his servants into flames of fire."

But about the Son, he says, "Your throne, God, stands forever and ever, and the scepter of your kingdom is a scepter of justice."

You have loved what is right and hated what is wrong. That is why God — your God — has anointed you with the oil of celebration above all your companions."

And, "In the beginning, Lord, you laid the foundation of the earth, and the heavens are the work of your hands.

They will wear out, but you remain. They will all grow old like clothing.

You will roll them up like a robe; like clothing, they will be changed. But you stay the same, and your years will never run out."

Now, to which angel has God ever said, "Sit at my right hand until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet"?

Aren't all angels just servants — spirits sent out to take care of those who are about to receive rescue?
