The Breath of God says clearly that in later times some people will walk away from the faith, paying attention to deceitful spirits and teachings that come from demons,

spread by liars whose consciences have been seared shut like burned skin —

people who forbid marriage and demand that others avoid certain foods. But God created those foods to be received with thankfulness by people who trust him and know the truth.

Because everything God created is good, and nothing should be rejected if it's received with thankfulness,

because it's made set apart through the word of God and prayer.

If you point these things out to the brothers and sisters, you'll be a good servant of the One, Jesus — someone nourished by the words of the faith and the good teaching you've been following.

But stay away from pointless myths and old wives' tales. Instead, train yourself to live in a way that honors God.

Physical training has some value, but training to honor God is valuable in every way — it holds promise for both this life and the life to come.

This saying is trustworthy and worth fully accepting:

This is why we work hard and push through — because we've placed our hope in the living God, who is the rescuer of all people, and especially of those who trust him.

Command and teach these things.

Don't let anyone look down on you because you're young. Instead, be an example for everyone who trusts God — in how you speak, how you live, in love, in faith, and in how you keep yourself clean.

Until I get there, focus on reading Scripture to the community, on encouraging them, and on teaching.

Don't neglect the gift you have, which was given to you through a prophetic message when the elders laid their hands on you.

Throw yourself into these things. Live in them completely, so that everyone can see your progress.

Keep a close eye on yourself and on your teaching. Stay with it, because by doing this you'll rescue both yourself and everyone who listens to you.
