So first of all, I'm urging that requests, prayers, pleas, and thankful words be offered for everyone —

for rulers and everyone in positions of power, so that we can live quiet, peaceful lives marked by godly devotion and dignity.

This is good and welcomed by God our Rescuer,

who wants all people to be rescued and to come to a full understanding of the truth.

Because there is one God and one bridge between God and humanity — a human being, the One, Jesus —

who gave himself as a ransom payment for everyone. This was the testimony given at just the right time,

and I was appointed as a herald and an ambassador for this message — I'm telling the truth, not making this up — to teach non-Jewish people about trust and truth.

So here's what I want: men everywhere should pray with hands lifted up, free from anger and arguments.

In the same way, women should present themselves with dignity and good judgment — not with elaborate hairstyles, gold jewelry, pearls, or expensive clothes,

but with good actions, which is what's appropriate for women who claim to be devoted to God.

A woman should learn in a calm and fully receptive way.

I don't allow a woman to teach or take authority over a man — she should remain calm.

Because Adam was formed first, then Eve.

And Adam was not the one who was deceived — it was the woman who was thoroughly deceived and fell into failure.

But she will be kept safe through the bearing of children — if they continue in trust, love, and being made whole, with good judgment.
