The word going around is that there's sexual immorality among you -- and not just any kind, but the sort that even non-Jewish people wouldn't tolerate: a man is sleeping with his father's wife.

And you're actually proud of yourselves! Shouldn't you be devastated instead? The man who did this should have been removed from your community.

Even though I'm not physically there with you, I am there in spirit. And I've already made my judgment about the man who did this, as though I were right there in the room.

When you come together in the name of the Master, Jesus -- and my spirit is with you, along with the power of our Master Jesus --

hand this man over to the Adversary for the destruction of his corrupt nature, so that his spirit may be rescued on the day of the Master.

Your bragging is not a good look. Don't you know that just a little yeast works its way through the whole batch of dough?

Get rid of the old yeast so you can be the fresh batch of dough that you really are. Because the One who is our Passover lamb has already been sacrificed for us.

So let's celebrate the feast -- not with the old yeast of cruelty and wickedness, but with the bread made without yeast: sincerity and truth.

I wrote to you in my earlier letter not to associate with sexually immoral people.

I didn't mean the people outside your community who are sexually immoral, or greedy, or who cheat others, or who worship created things. If that were the case, you'd have to leave the world entirely!

What I actually meant was: don't associate with anyone who claims to be a fellow believer but is sexually immoral, or greedy, or worships created things, or is verbally abusive, or a drunk, or cheats others. Don't even eat with someone like that.

It's not my business to judge outsiders. But isn't it your job to judge those within your own community?

God will judge those on the outside. Remove the wicked person from among you.
